Piggies In A Blanket

Friday, July 12, 2013
Apologies for my blogging negligence for the past few weeks. I'm spending the Summer interning in New York and although I convinced myself it would be a walk in the park, it has proven difficult to cook and work and post (especially without my own kitchen)!

Despite actually never having these in my own home, Piggies in a blanket always remind me of my childhood. They're a fun finger food and go down well amazingly with adults as well as kids. I guess we all like to feel like kids sometimes. They kind of make you feel like you're ordering off of the kids menu... which is something I still do and I won't judge if you do too...

YOU WILL NEED:
1 BAG (APPROX 20) MINI HOTDOGS (I USED TIVAL VEGETARIAN COCKTAIL SAUSAGES)
1 PACKET READY PUFF PASTRY
KETCHUP
MUSTARD
SESAME SEEDS
1 EGG, BEATEN

Pre-heat oven to 400 Degrees F or 200 C.

With a rolling pin, roll out the puff pastry out approximately 5mm thick. Cut the dough into three inch length and one inch wide pieces.

If the hotdogs are frozen, boil or microwave them just to defrost but do not over cook them.

Dab a quarter of a teaspoon of mustard and ketchup in the centre of each piece of puff pastry dough and place a mini hotdog in the centre. Roll one side of the dough over the hotdog and roll the other side of the dough around itself.

Brush with beaten egg and sprinkle with sesame seeds generously.

Bake for 30 minutes or until puffed and brown!

Enjoy!
