Yesterday, I put my romance skills to the test and attempted to make the ultimate meal for the man of my dreams. (The meal was actually tested by my family since the man of my dreams is yet to show up)!
All of these recipes are unbelievably easy and you are bound to impress your loved one!
Onion Soup Shots with Shaved Parmesan
You will need:
3 ONIONS SLICED (YOU MAY USE A FOOD PROCESSOR)
1 CLOVE CHOPPED GARLIC
SKIN OF TWO TOMATOES
OLIVE OIL
SALT AND PEPPER TO TASTE
(To get the skin from the tomato place one or two tomatoes in boiling water for a few minutes. The skin will easily peel off. Save tomatoes for a sauce or salad).
Pre-heat oven to 200 Degrees Celsius
Heat up 2 tablespoons of olive oil in a pot. Add the onions and garlic.
Leave to cook for 10-12 minutes.
Add the tomato peel.
The mixture should look like this.
Add two cups of boiling water and allow the mixture to cook on a low heat for approximately 30 minutes. Stir occasionally. Add more water if you feel necessary.
Add salt and pepper to taste.
Sprinkle some fresh parmesan cheese on top before serving.
You will need:
1LB LAMB RIBS (approx 7 pieces)
1 PACKET FRESH PASTA
500G CHERRY TOMATOES
1/2 CUP SLICED ONION
FRESH THYME
3 TBSP SUGAR
1 CUBE BEEF STOCK
SALT AND PEPPER TO TASTE
DRIED CHILLI FLAKES TO TASTE
In a large, deep pan heat up two tablespoons of olive oil and sauté the onions and garlic.
Add the tomatoes to the pan and leave on low flame.
Once the tomatoes have softened add the cube of beef stock, fresh thyme and a cup of hot water.
While the sauce cooks on a low heat, add the sugar, salt and pepper.
Continue to add water to the sauce if it begins to evaporate.
The ribs should cook for approximately one hour and until all fat has melted off.
Toss the ribs in the sauce and leave for 15 minutes
Put the ribs back on the baking tray with a clean piece of foil.
Bake for 5 minutes whilst pasta is boiling.
Make sure not to over boil pasta!!
Toss the pasta in with the sauce.
Plate and serve with ribs on top of pasta!
Sprinkle some fresh thyme and basil on top for decoration!
Enjoy!
